My daughter, Leana, is 12 years old and has her eye on my Galaxie. Lately, she's been helping

get the stereo installed. It's not only helpful having someone around who is small enough to

wiggle into the tight spaces, but spending time in the garage with her has been great for both of us.

In a few years she'll be a teenager and may not want anything to do with me. Maybe the Galaxie

experience will serve to keep the communication lines open. Either way, we're having a great time now.

Leana built a mockup for our console out of cereal boxes

Leana did the climb in - climb out test fitting work. That's the kind of thing that wears me out.

We made the console out of 1/4 inch plywood, covered it with 1/2 inch foam and textured vinyl.

We're nearly done. All that's left is to connect some wires.
